Once per month, there is a Legal Aid General Advice Clinic at the UCCMM Office (1110 Hwy 551) in the afternoon (1:00 to 4:00 p.m.) Please call 705-377-5307 x 207 to schedule an appointment with the LAO duty counsel.

Duty Counsel- Family Law: 705-670-9282
Legal Aid Ontario provides duty counsel lawyers virtually and in person at courthouses to give advice about family law matters. Duty counsel lawyers will:
- Listen to your family law issues
- Make suggestions about what you can do
- Explain the laws applicable to your situation
- Review court forms you completed or need to complete
Duty counsel lawyers are available on the day of your family proceeding, and in some instances may assist you when you go before a judge. They cannot represent you in your court case.

A family mediator is someone who helps individuals going through a separation or divorce or resolve their disagreements. Mediation is an alternative to going to court. Family mediation can be faster, cheaper and a more private way to reach an agreement on issues such as:
- Support payments
- Dividing property
- Parenting time or decision-making responsibility in respect of children

The Family Justice Centre provides free legal services to eligible self-represented litigants in Ontario. Anishnabek Resource for Women Leaving Shelters
The Anishinabek Nation’s Nshiimenhiig (My Sisters Toolkit) is for women and girls leaving shelters and returning to their communities after experiencing intimate partner violence. It focuses on empowering them, promoting leadership, and developing culturally relevant and community-based solutions to violence.
