Representation:
We provide representation on a case-by-case basis only:
- You must usually live in the District of Manitoulin;
- You must be financially eligible;
- Your legal issue must be in an area of law practiced by the Legal Clinic and must meet our case selection criteria.
We prioritize areas of law that particularly affect people living on low income, such as social assistance (Ontario Works and Ontario Disability), rental housing, and other government income programs such as Canada Pension Plan, WSIB, and Old Age Security. In these areas of law, we may be able to assist you before a Tribunal or court. We may also be able to assist you in representing yourself.
We also help eligible clients with preparing their wills and powers of attorney (both on and off reserve).
We can’t help with all areas of law…
If we cannot help you, we will try to refer you to someone who can.
For help with other areas of law (including family and criminal law matters), see Resources and Legal Information.
